How Your Voice Has Grown This Year
As we get closer to the New Year (man, where did the time go?!?), We look forward to what’s ahead, while reflecting on what we left behind. Like you, I’ve made some changes along the way, and they have improved how I run my website design/marketing consulting business. With that said, we entrepreneurs, small business owners, and side-hustlers have to take into account what worked and what didn’t.
So, let’s get into it.
The Problem: Recycling Old Habits
Entrepreneurs spend so much time hustling, pivoting, and trying to “make it happen” that we forget to stop and acknowledge how far we’ve come. We get so wrapped up in the next goal that the growth we’ve already earned goes unnoticed. And when you don’t pause to reflect, you’ll end up dragging old habits, old thinking, and old fears into a brand-new season. Nobody has time for that recycled nonsense.
The Solution: Look At Your Evolution
Take a moment to step back, breathe, and look at the evolution of your voice — how you’ve shown up, what you’ve learned, how you’ve stood your ground, and where you’ve stretched yourself. Reflection isn’t some fluffy exercise. It’s how you align your next move with who you’ve become.
Here are five steps to help you look back with pride and move forward with intention:
1. Reclaim the Receipts: Document the Wins
You’ve done more than your brain gives you credit for. Pull out your planner, calendar, emails, DMs — whatever holds the proof — and list your wins. Big ones, small ones, sneaky ones.
This step reminds you that your growth wasn’t accidental. You earned every inch.
2. Identify What No Longer Fits
Growth means outgrowing people, patterns, and practices. Take note of what drained you, what felt forced, or what kept you playing small.
This is where you choose what stays in this chapter and what gets tossed in the goodwill bin of your life.
3. Notice Where Your Voice Got Stronger
Think of moments where you spoke up, asked for help, said “no,” raised your rates, pivoted, set boundaries, or finally stopped doubting your expertise.
Your voice isn’t something you “find” once — it strengthens every time you use it.
4. Redefine Your Direction
Now that you know what worked and what didn’t, get crystal clear on what you want your next chapter to feel like. Not just the goals — the feeling, the energy, the voice you want to lead with.
This is where recalibration happens.
5. Create Your “Next Chapter” Plan
A new chapter doesn’t need a whole rebrand or a 50-point strategy. Write down the three actions that match the version of you that showed up this year.
This keeps your momentum focused and sustainable. Grown woman energy only!
Looking Back, Moving Forward
As we wind down 2025, let’s continue to grow our voice and our profit margins. Remember to look back at what you’ve accomplished and what’s ahead in 2026. Let’s be clear about our goals and what steps we need to achieve them.
Now it’s your turn:
What’s one area where your voice got stronger this year?
