Mid-Year Check-In: Have You Achieved Your Goals?

Mid-Year Check-In: Have You Achieved Your Goals?

Whew—July already? Blink twice and we’ll be ordering holiday planners and talking about Q4 strategy. But before you go spiraling into “Where did the time go?” mode, let’s hit pause. Mid-year isn’t a crisis point—it’s a checkpoint. And no, this isn’t where we wallow in guilt about everything we didn’t do. This is where we reset, reframe, and reclaim our momentum. According to a 2022 Forbes article, over 80% of people abandon their New Year goals by mid-February. That’s right—mid-February. So, if you’re still thinking about your goals in July? You’re ahead of the game. Let that sink in.

Because here’s the thing: just because your year didn’t start off the way you planned doesn’t mean it can’t end exactly how you want it to.

So, let’s have a real conversation—no fluff, no shame—about where you are, where you want to go, and how to actually get there (without burning out or beating yourself up along the way).

Problem: You’re Stuck on “What if” Mode

We’re smack dab in the middle of the year, and let’s be honest—some of those January goals are still sitting pretty on paper. Maybe life got busy. Maybe you lost momentum. Maybe you’ve been second-guessing yourself with a bunch of “what ifs” and “should haves.”

Listen, that inner critic? They’ve got opinions, but they’re not running this show. You might feel behind, but the truth is: you’re not out of time—you’re just at halftime.

Solution: Reflect, Refocus, Move On

This is your cue to pause, pivot, and proceed with purpose. Mid-year isn’t the time to throw in the towel; it’s the time to adjust your mindset and re-enter the game with strategy and swagger.

Here’s how to make the second half of 2025 count:

Reflect, Don’t Ruminate – Take stock of what’s worked, what didn’t, and what straight-up drained your energy. Look back, but don’t unpack and live there. Remember the 3T’s: Try-Tweak-Toss and move on from there.

Rewrite the Rules – If a goal no longer fits, guess what? You’re allowed to update it. Evolving isn’t failure—it’s progress with better lighting.  For example, you committed to attending at least 8 networking events a month, but you find yourself drained by the thought of traveling or being on Zoom for hours on end, so you cut back to 4 events a month. No Harm, No Foul – You feel accomplished and less stressed about the time commitment.

Refocus Your Power – Pour your energy into the moves that matter. You don’t need 15 goals. You need one clear mission with consistent action. You can use this in both your personal and entrepreneurial life.

Take Intentional Steps – Baby steps are still steps. You don’t have to do it all; you just have to do the next right thing.

Try This: Use the Fresh Start Effect strategy. This approach allows you to review your goals and re-commit with a fresh start. Since this is mid-year, take the time to look at what you’ve completed so far, then move on to the next task.

Mid-Year Check-In: Have You Achieved Your Goals?

So, here we are at the halfway mark of the year. It’s the perfect time to hit pause, take a deep breath, and check in on those goals we set back in January. No need to stress if things haven’t gone exactly as planned – this is your chance to reset, reframe, and reclaim your momentum. Think of it as a fresh start, a new beginning to tackle the rest of the year with renewed energy and purpose.

Reflect on what’s worked, ditch what hasn’t, and keep moving forward with confidence. Let’s make the second half of the year even better than the first!
